As part of the Atlantic Park entertainment complex, the grand opening of The Dome — the live concert component of the city-owned project — has yet to be formally announced, but officials from partner Live Nation have stated Spring 2025 with more details to be shared on or before February 2.

Thus far, Live Nation has announced several concerts with many more to follow.  All signs point to an early to mid-May opening.  Here’s what’s confirmed at our press time:

May 22 —  Joe Russo’s Almost Dead

May 24 — Coheed & Cambria with Mastadon

June 6 — Kevin James (comedy)

June 7 — Turnover

June 15 — Sarah Millican (comedy)

July 6 — Diana Krall

August 11 – Cody Jinks

August 28 — Alison Krauss & Union Station

September 17 — Papa Roach

The flexible design allows for a variety of shows and events. The General Admission capacity of the music hall is 3,500, with an optional seated capacity of 2,400. When opening the doors to the outside viewing area, the capacity increases by 1,500.

Calling this new, state-of-the-art venue The Dome honors the storied legacy of the long ago bulldozered Alan B. Shepard Convention Center, a futuristic dome-shaped auditorium built in 1958 that hosted a variety of events including concerts by the likes of Jimi Hendrix Experience, Ray Charles, Duke Ellington, Eric Clapton, The Grateful Dead, The Monkees, Neil Diamond, and many others.

“The Dome will quickly become a go-to destination for music, comedy, and special events, all while paying homage to the legacy of the original Dome — a celebrated home for jazz, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll,” said Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer.
