The Cordish Companies officially announced that it will be adding Blue Moon TapHouse to the exciting lineup of venues opening at Waterside District. Blue Moon TapHouse will be a completely unique dining and entertainment concept created specifically for the Waterside District and will debut when the project launches in the Spring.
Blue Moon Brewing Company launched in 1995 in Denver, Colorado when head brewmaster, Keith Villa, decided to try a different take on the classic Belgian Wit beers that he had grown to love while studying brewing in Brussels. By taking the Belgian Wit recipe and adding Valencia orange peel and a touch of coriander, a new-world twist was put on the old-world art of brewing and a beer unlike any other was formed. Blue Moon Brewing Company has won countless national and international awards for their innovation and passion for brewing unique recipes of beer made from the highest quality ingredients.
Blue Moon TapHouse was born from that same creative inspiration and will be a truly unique concept that marries the art of cooking with the art of beer. Comprised of multiple rooms that span from Waterside Drive to the Elizabeth River waterfront in the heart of downtown Norfolk, Blue Moon TapHouse will feature live music, authentic art, a large selection of craft beer and a variety of gastropub-style dining options.
“We are extremely excited to launch this brand new dining and entertainment concept at Waterside District,” stated Reed S. Cordish, Vice President of The Cordish Companies. “We will be investing over $6 million to create this one-of-a-kind, high-quality anchor concept for the District and employing over 100 people in its operation. The Blue Moon TapHouse is a licensing partnership that combines the best of craft cooking with the best of craft beer. It will be amplified by art, culture and music experiences. It will be a great neighborhood gathering spot that will welcome residents and visitors alike and a perfect complement to our already strong lineup of venues going in the District.”
Blue Moon TapHouse at Waterside District will feature three unique dining and entertainment experiences throughout the venue, as well as a private dining area that seats up to 50 people. The tavern area, with comfortable, booth-style seating, will feature a custom-designed circular bar serving a collection of carefully selected beer on tap, a stage for intimate, live music performances and an outdoor patio. From the tavern room, the venue flows into a dynamic, central area that opens up to a high, vaulted ceiling with a large skylight and a significant, exposed kitchen for one-of-a-kind dining experiences. The dining area of the venue, which opens up to beautiful, waterfront views along the Elizabeth River, will feature a large exterior patio for outdoor dining and second stage for live music.
“It is exciting to see how the team at Waterside District will be bringing our brand to life,” stated Keith Villa. “Blue Moon TapHouse will be a strong addition to Norfolk’s great food, beer and art scene. ”
Blue Moon TapHouse joins an eclectic group of premier local and national brands previously announced for Waterside District: Guy Fieri’s Smokehouse, The Fudgery, PBR, as well as Cogan’s Pizza, Carolina Cupcakery, and Starr Hill which will be part of The Market, a 30,000 square foot, two level anchor concept located in the heart of Waterside District. The Market will feature a variety of local and regional food and beverage concepts, and serve as the home for entertainment, festivals and family attractions. Exciting additional local and national concepts will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
