Last week, US Senator Mark Warner publicly endorsed Virginia state senator Kenny Alexander to become the next mayor of Norfolk. But Warner isn’t the only noteworthy politician lining up to support Alexander.
According to our source, in the coming weeks and days leading to the May 3 election additional high-profile, A-list Democrat endorsements will come from outgoing Norfolk mayor Paul Fraim, Governor Terry McAuliffe, US Senator and former governor Tim Kaine, US representative Scott Rigell, and for governor Doug Wilder.
If elected, Alexander would become Norfolk’s first African-American mayor.
Senator Alexander faces longtime Norfolk sheriff Bob McCabe and Norfolk city councilman and attorney Andy Protogyrou for the May 3 election.
